Tampa Bay Buccaneers History
While Tampa Bay Buccaneers tickets have given NFL fans one of the leagues best defensive shows over the past few years, in 2005, the Buccaneers are assaulting the NFL with a Cadillac, rookie tailback Carnell “Cadillac” Williams that is. The Buccaneers used their first-round pick in the 2005 NFL Draft to grab the running back out of Auburn. Head coach Jon Gruden intends to ride through the NFC South in style. “Cadillac” Williams style. After winning Super Bowl XXXVII, Buccaneers ticket holders have seen their team win just 12 of 32 games, but Raymond James Stadium will be ringing with cannon blasts after the “Cadillac” starts cruising. The top-ranked rookie running back has already ignited a boom in Tampa Bay Buccaneers tickets.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers began life as an expansion team in 1976. The first year under head coach John Mckay was disappointing, as the Bucs finished 0-14, the first time an NFL team had lost all of it’s regular season games. It would take another 12 losses before the Bucs posted their first win against the New Orleans Saints in 1977. Tampa Bay improved that mark with five wins in the 1978 season and began to assemble a team that would make it’s mark the very next year.
The Buccaneers were the surprise team of the NFL in 1979, winning a share of the Central Division title. Behind the running of Ricky Bell, who gained 1,250 yards on the ground, and the passing of quarterback Doug Williams, the Buccaneers beat the favored Philadelphia Eagles in the first round of the playoffs, before being eliminated by the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship game. 1981 and 1982 saw the Buccaneers reach the playoffs in consecutive years for the first time, although they failed to get past the first round in each year. 1983 began a long dry spell for the Bucs, broken only by a 5-4 record in the strike year of 1982.
The hiring of Tony Dungy in 1996 revived the Buccaneers’ fortunes. Dungy assembled a team that began to blossom around the talents of running back Mike Alstott, quarterback Trent Dilfer and a tough aggressive defense. The Buccaneers returned to the playoffs in 1997 after a 10-6 season, but lost to the Green Bay Packers in the second round of the playoffs. Although the Bucs would return to the playoffs in 1999, 2000, and 2001, they failed to get past the first round in any year.
In 2002, Tampa Bay sacrificed draft choices in order to lure Oakland Raider head coach Jon Gruden to the Buccaneers. The decision paid immediate dividends as Gruden guided the Buccaneers to their first ever Super Bowl win with a 48-21 victory over the Raiders in Super Bowl XXVII.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers tickets may be the hottest ticket in the NFL with the addition of “Cadillac” Williams to the roster. With quarterback Brian Griese maturing into a solid triggerman and Chris Simms fighting for playing time, the Buccaneers offense is much improved, and there’s still plenty of defense under coordinator Monte Kiffin. Add it all together and it looks like it’s time to start lining up for Tampa Bay Buccaneers tickets.
