Kansas City Chiefs History Kansas City Chiefs Tickets

Kansas City Chiefs tickets brought loads and loads of offense in 2004. Now if they can just throw in a little defense, 2005 might be the year Chiefs tickets can serve up playoff wins and a Super Bowl appearance. Dick Vermeil added some talent on the defensive side of the ball in 2005, so it’s time to reserve some Kansas City Chiefs tickets and make plans for a trip to Arrowhead Stadium.

The Chiefs franchise is no stranger to winning. Beginning as a charter member of the AFL as the Dallas Texans, the future Chiefs won three AFL titles. With the legendary Hank Stram in command as head coach, the Chiefs featured an awesome defense and an offense led by quarterback Len Dawson, a future NFL Hall of Fame member and winner of five NFL passing titles. In the 1990’s, head coach Marty Schottenheimer guided the Chiefs to the playoffs six times.

The Texans moved to Kansas City in 1963 and were renamed the Chiefs. After winning the AFL Championship the Chiefs played in the very first Super Bowl, losing to the Green Bay Packers 35-10. Stram continued the teams winning ways with another AFL title in 1969, using the talents of Dawson and kicker Jan Stenerud on offense and building his defense around Hall of Fame players like Bobby Bell at linebacker and Buck Buchanan at defensive tackle. Heading to another Super Bowl after that 1969 season, the Chiefs faced off against the Minnesota Vikings, this time bringing home a 23-7 win.

The Chiefs merged into the NFL along with the rest of the AFL in 1970, winning their first NFL division title in 1971. Unfortunately, it would take until 1986 before Kansas City fans got the chance to see their team return to the NFL postseason. The hiring of Marty Schottenheimer brought prosperity back to Kansas City. In 1990, the Chiefs had the first of what would be six straight years of playoff trips, with a division championship in 1993.

In 2001, the Chiefs hired head coach Dick Vermeil. Coming out of retirement after winning a Super Bowl with the St. Louis Rams, Vermeil had the Chiefs back into the playoff picture by 2003, posting a 13-3 record that included a 9-0 start. With quarterback Trent Green, who averaged over 4,000 yards and 26 touchdowns a year in his first three years at the helm of the Chiefs offense, and the running of Priest Holmes, a steady 1,000+ yard performer, the Chargers boasted one of the NFL’s best offense in 2004.

Kansas City Chiefs tickets give NFL fans the thing they want most: Offense. The high scoring Chiefs are looking to give the offense some help by bolstering the defense in 2005 with the addition of linebacker Kendrell Bell and cornerback Patrick Surtain. With any defensive improvement at all, fans with Kansas City Chiefs tickets will be making reservations for a Super Bowl trip.
