Atlanta Falcons History Atlanta Falcons Tickets

Atlanta Falcons tickets sell out week after week because of one man: Michael Vick. Dubbed by some as the most exciting player ever to don an NFL uniform, Vick has reenergized the Falcons franchise and provided enough Georgia Dome highlight footage to fill a warehouse. Falcons ticket holders watched their trigger man lead Atlanta to an NFC South Division title in 2004,  but watched in dismay as Vick and company fell to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship game. In 2005, Vick has pledged to not only continue his assault on the record books with his feet, but also sharpen his passing skills and give Atlanta Falcons tickets added luster.

The Falcons burst onto the NFL scene in 1966, with Norb Hecker as their first head coach and NFL Rookie of the year Tommy Nobis their first draft pick. The first few years produced limited team success but featured the emergence of NFL stars like defensive end Claude Humphrey.  It would take until 1978 before the Falcons hit the NFL playoff scene. After a 9-7 regular season record, the Falcons secured a Wild Card berth under head coach Leeman Bennett. In their playoff debut, the Falcons knocked off the Philadelphia Eagles, before being eliminated by the Dallas Cowboys.

The Falcons returned to the NFL playoffs in 1980 as NFC West Champions, and again in 1982, before suffering through eight straight losing seasons. Head coach Jerry Glanville guided the Falcons back to the playoffs in 1991, leading them to a 10-6 record and a Wild Card spot. Glanville’s team featured one of the best wide receiver tandems in the league in Michael Haynes and Andre Rison. June Jones took over the Falcons’ head coaching job in 1994 and produced a team with a prolific offense. Quarterback Jeff George notched a record setting performance in 1995 with more than 4,000 yards passing to help the Falcons earn a playoff berth.

In 1997, former Denver Broncos head coach Dan Reeves took the reins and put the Falcons back on top. 1998 saw Atlanta boast a 14-2 record and produce playoff wins over the 49ers and the Vikings on the way to a berth in Super Bowl XXXIII, where the Falcons went down 34-19 to Reeves’ former team, the Denver Broncos.

While Vick is the heart and soul of the team, Falcons ticket holders have watched head coach Jim Mora build a solid group around his superstar. The Falcons led the NFL in rushing in 2004 with Warrick Dunn and T. J. Duckett combining for over 1,600 yards on the ground, to go along with Vick’s 900. Tight end Alge Crumpler had a banner year, leading all Falcon receivers with 774 yards. With a solid running game already in place, and the addition of Roddy White, a wide receiver from UAB in the 2005 NFL draft, the Falcons are ready to take the NFL by storm in 2005, selling out the Georgia Dome and creating a run on Atlanta Falcons tickets.
