The defending AFC North Champion Ravens are looking to avenge their 2010 playoff loss to the eventual Super Bowl Champion Steelers. The franchise knew it needed a top receiver to help stretch the defense and then Jimmy Smith dropped to the 27th spot. The Ravens pulled the trigger on the much maligned defensive back and are hoping he will be able to make an impact on the team’s defense. “He’s exactly the type of corner we’re looking for. He fits our defense just the way we need him to fit our defense,” Head Coach John Harbaugh said after the draft.
Another draft pick who should make an immediate impact is WR Tandon Doss whom the Ravens selected in the 4th round of the draft. Doss was chosen by QB Joe Flacco himself and the team also picked up WR Torrey Smith. Smith, the teams scouts proclaimed, had the best hands in the draft and has been compared favorably to T.J. Houshmandzadeh.
The Ravens should be there once the playoffs begin.
